I am zoning out to some music. I just finished studying.

Got to meet some fellow math geeks. It felt good. It seems like we are such a minority in our research program and in regular life. I try to avoid having the conversation about the merits of pure math vs. applied math; I feel that all of it is useful. There is obvious benefit in being able to realize correlations and norms, but there is a creativity involved with pure math that I love.

I really have to sit down and make a few decisions about my future (career change, future research, etc).

For the weekend, I would love to:

-straighten up the apartment

-eat something that I shouldn’t

-go for a very long walk, maybe browse a bookstore on the way

-go to museum

-snuggle with John

I am a simple girl. Really.

sidebar: A provocative opinion from a not-necessarily-sagacious writer. I understand the writer is black and all, but he is still a reporter and still has to be professional. Save all the slang for your homies. I am not hating because I use the same language…but it’s all about context.

main point: Our government has turned into an over sized high school lately, with certain cliques snubbing others, representatives not performing because they have issues with authority, and authorities unable to move past their own prejudices in order to achieve results. I understand that sometimes when you have a job it is hard to see the global result of what you are doing, but using ____ (insert nonsense here) as an excuse to not run the country is unacceptable.

Will we ever move past the “politics” in politics?
