Lifestyle: Less is More

I agree wholeheartedly with this post. If all the bells and whistles are you, then by all means. However, stay true to who you are.

This has always been a extremely important sentiment to me. I’ve since come across a few individuals who’ve tried to inform me that creativity is for those who think outside the box and who “go the distance” when it comes to fashion, often mismatching, adding pattern over pattern and “standing” out among a crowd of fashion associates. Really? This is what we now call style? I beg to differ, considerably. Color is great, but does one truly know how to use it? Layering is always a girls bestfriend…but to what extent are you just burying yourself under your own clothes? Reading the style mags, following blogs and watching young Parisien girls march across the tiny streets in all black ensembles has taught me one thing. Who you are is truly what makes your style. You can hide yourself under momentous sweaters, brightly colored tights, layers of perfectly coifed hair, and pass yourself along as a “stylish” individual. But for how long? At the end of the day, the powers that be really just want to see your lovely face (so pull your hair back into a ponytail and lose the shades), your sensual figure (time to stop with the layers and embrace a good fit), and watch you wear what you REALLY like (yes, its okay to wear those jeans from ‘07). If I’m pitted as being “less creative” because I choose simplicity over clutter, then I accept the title with pride. Style is what YOU make it, what you give it, and how you see it….and for me, less is more than perfection.
